Event Details

For the first time Lancashire Forum Creative and Think Differently brings to you, a one-day hands-on experience to; Explore, Accelerate and Innovate ideas that will Disrupt and Transform your business.

Come along to our first Think Differently Sprint in collaboration with Think Differently for Lancashire’s Creative and Digital SME’s, where you will gain insight into how adopting a sprint methodology can assist you in developing rapid change within your business that will transform the way in which you realise ideas.

The sprint methodology known today originated from Google in 2010 but wasn't publicly adopted and branded ‘Design Sprints’ until 2016. Since then many agencies across the globe have adopted their own approaches to the methodology to create a tool for innovation and problem-solving for businesses, small and large. In all these sprints, ideation, prototyping, testing and refining are at the core of the methodology’s framework.

FAQ’s

  • How can Sprints help you/your team/your stakeholders/network to overcome these challenges?

    • The event is presented by the Lancashire Forum Creative, the team you are familiar with from running the innovative leadership and business growth programme and in collaboration with and facilitated by the Media Innovation Studio'sThink Differently project at the University of Central Lancashire.

    • You’ll get prior workshop support to enrich your experience on the day. Take part in the one-day workshop, where you’ll gain hands-on insights into the processes, techniques and tools to practice your own Sprints within your business

    • Our version of the Sprint methodology establishes the problem before the Sprint, which reduces the duration of the program from four days into one, as well as refines a number of the core activities to help you successfully progress through the program. On the day you will focus on two core component of the Sprint methodology, this is ideation and prototyping. You will be guided through these phases which will have been tailored to suit your business (prior to the workshop).

    • At the end of the workshop - it doesn’t stop there. You will receive a bespoke toolkit containing a strategy document based on your input from the Sprint, which has been tailored to your business needs and a sample of the tools needed to support you in running Sprints for your own customers.

    • Sprints help you develop ideas, re-think ideas, understand your customer needs, explore new paths for execution, reduce resources by effectively planning time on research and development.

      • An understanding of the processes.

      • Knowledge of the tools.

      • A more informed way of empathising with your customers.

      • Expertise in sketching, prototyping and iteration techniques.

  • Who is it for?

    • The Lancashire Forum Creative is an ERDF-funded programme for Lancashire-based creative and digital SMEs. There is no cost to eligible businesses. If you are unsure if you fit this requirement please contact us on LancashireForum@ulcan.ac.uk. If you fulfil the eligibility criteria, you are welcome to bring team members and other people from your network as it will enhance your experience but coming on your own is absolutely fine.

    • Sprints are purposefully designed to improve collaboration, thinking differently and to solve problems quickly and effectively. Since it’s release many agencies have adopted the Sprint from a week-long process to two days, from physically to remotely and now from teams to individuals.

  • Why Think Differently?

    • Our extensive knowledge of design, prototyping and iteration combined with innovative teaching allows us to transfer our knowledge and core skills to you and your business

    • Think Differently has collaborated with Lancashire Forum Creative for two-years delivering a series of talks, hacks, and ideation workshops. This year we are doing things a little ‘Differently’. This year Dr. Mark Lochrie, certified from AJ&Smarts Design Sprint Masterclass and Gareth West are facilitating their spin on the Design Sprint process, which we think you’ll gain a lot from their knowledge, expertise and experiences from working decades in Design Processes and the last few years perfecting the (Design) Sprint framework.

  • What do I need to bring with me?

    • It is an intensive day starting at 8am and finishing at 8pm and therefore breakfast, lunch and pizza in the evening are all included. Come along with a good understanding of your business and customers, and enthusiasm and an openness to explore new ways of working.

  • Can I bring team members and other people from my network?

    • Sure, this will improve your experience on the day.

  • Do I need to book?

    • This event is expected to be over-subscribed so please book your place(s) early to avoid disappointment. We will then provide you with further information about the day. We very much hope that you are able to attend.

  • Where can I read more about the original Design Sprint?
