The speakers:
Jon de Peyer joined HarperNorth in 2020 after over a decade in independent and university press publishing. With a list spanning memoir and biography, politics, history, sport, nature writing, food, smart-thinking, true crime, pop science and music, he’s looking for surprising and engaging work from authors from a diverse range of backgrounds. He has published, amongst others, Stuart Maconie, Lisa Nandy, Nazir Afzal, Shashi Tharoor, David Goodhart, Andy Mitten, Anushka Asthana, Tom Baldwin, Pete Brown and Brian Groom. Alison Welsby has been working in academic publishing for over 25 years and is Editorial Director at Liverpool University Press, where she is responsible for the editorial book publishing strategy and manages an excellent team of commissioning editors. As well as commissioning books for the history and visual arts lists, dealing with foreign rights, and Open Access, Alison also runs a publishing placement module with the School of the Arts, which publishes award-wining poetry in our Pavilion Poetry book series.
