Event description

Description

How and why does thinking spatially help us understand the production and representation of Islam in Europe, and the creative tactics of Muslims which shape it?

Join us for a public lecture by Professor Kim Knott (Lancaster University) to hear about how and why we should think spatially about Islam in Europe.

In the first part of her lecture, Professor Knott will illustrate her approach to spatial analysis with reference to a mosque extension in the London Borough of Southwark. In the second, drawing on examples from across the continent, she will identify some of the internal and external constraints and opportunities faced by Europe’s Muslims in the process of making Islamic spaces.

We will conclude with a Question and Answer session with the audience.
