About this event

Step back into Woolwich’s wartime past — and look forward to the meaning of freedom today.

Join us for a powerful and moving celebration, as artists Lucia and Stuart unveil an original new artwork inspired by Woolwich’s vital role in the war — from the bravery of the Canary Girls in the munitions factories to the untold stories of local veterans.

Historian Rich Sylvester will take us on a thought-provoking journey, exploring how hard-won freedoms were achieved — and what they mean in our modern world, with conflict still shaping lives across the globe.

Alongside this, the Greenwich Heritage Archives will present a fascinating display of wartime photographs, objects, and memories, helping us remember the resilience and sacrifices of our community.

We’ll end the day in true street-party style — with finger foods, refreshments, and the chance to share stories with friends old and new.

This is more than an event — it’s a living tribute. Spaces are limited, so register now to be part of it.
