Third Saturday walk - Friends of the Kintyre Way walk Kintyre
Our September walks starts at Machrihanish at the end of the Kintyre Way. From here we will follow the road along the shore, then heading inland and taking a right turn, we will leave the Kintyre Way at the sign marked Seabird Observatory and The Gauldrons,
Beyond the observatory we will find The Gauldrons and explore this spectacular bay of rocks, sand and shingle with a backdrop of cliffs behind and in front- The Atlantic Ocean! We can go out and back, approximately 5k or we may head inland from the bay and take a different route back to Machrihanish. We hope you will join Friends of the Kintyre Way for lunch in Machrihanish.
Note that dogs are not permitted on our organised walks. Participants must be over 18.
To help maintain and market The Kintyre Way we ask for a small donation when you sign up for the walk.. Friends of The Kintyre Way work to keep our 100 mile 'walk on the wild' - Wild and Beautiful!
Friends of the Kintyre Way walks provide a great opportunity to explore Kintyre via The Kintyre Way and to meet other Friends of the Kintyre Way, so please come along to as many of the walks as you can. It will also be an opportunity to showcase that Wild and Beautiful 100-mile route that we have on our doorstep. So please take plenty of photos of walkers having fun, the flora and fauna, and the marvellous scenery!
Photos can also be posted on our Facebook pages via the visitor pages of The Kintyre Way and The Friends of the Kintyre Way. You can also post on Kintyre Walks and, of course, share on your own social media channels.
Regrettably, dogs are not permitted on these organised walks due to the number of participants and the timing constraints, and some walks will cross fields with livestock. However, much of the Kintyre Way is suitable for dogs on a short lead. At all times please follow the Scottish Outdoor Access Code and be a responsible dog walker.
The Friends of the Kintyre Way kindly host our Kintyre Way walks on behalf of The Kintyre Way, which covers the insurance for the event.
By participating in an event organised by The Friends of The Kintyre Way, you are participating in walks hosted by volunteers. They generously offer their time and knowledge for free but may not have formal training in first aid, navigation, or emergency response. Event participants are responsible for assessing their fitness and suitability for participating in activities for their own and other's safety and well-being during the walk. Ensure you are appropriately dressed and equipped, including water, for all conditions.
