Join us for this online session where we will explore the essentials of legal structures in the third sector.
About the session
During the session we'll cover why structure matters for governance and funding eligibility. We'll outline the main options available, and highlight minimum standards for fundraising.
We'll focus on the two most common modern structures – Community Interest Companies (CICs) and Charitable Incorporated Organisations (CIOs) – with a clear breakdown of their relative benefits and drawbacks. You’ll leave with practical insights and handouts to help you decide which structure best fits your organisation’s goals.
Who is it for?
This session is aimed at those volunteering with or working for VCFSE groups or organisations in leadership positions, or with responsibility for managing or running their groups, and fundraisers.
About the trainer
Your trainers for this session will be Dr Miranda Millan and Louise Treacher, Funding and Enterprise Consultants for Spark Somerset.
Miranda has fundraised millions of pounds for third sector organisations. With over a decade of experience as a Company Director, Governor and Chair of Trustees, she has successfully designed and delivered training, led campaigns, and been responsible for charity management and governance.
Louise has worked in the community and sports development sector for over 30 years and now runs her own consultancy business supporting profit for purpose organisations to find and secure funding and to become more financially sustainable.
This training is offered as part of a project that is being funded by the UK Government through the Shared Prosperity Fund. Tickets are solely available to VCFSE staff and volunteers from organisations operating in Somerset.
