Event description

Description

The old-boy network, sexual harassment, the global mobility of leadership roles, lack of mentors, family responsibilities, religion and cultural traditions are among the circumstances and dynamics now influencing the social mobility of women across the world. Intensifying and interweaving forces of global migration, technological advancements, neo-liberalisation and globalization over the last several decades have produced uneven and arguably deceptive gains, given the available evidence of the increasingly precarious position of women throughout the world. Amongst these general patterns and trends, circumstances can vary across cultural contexts in and between countries.

Rigorous analysis of the interconnected challenges now experienced by women, as well as inclusive assessments of proposed solutions and diverse experiments now underway will increase our understanding of the pathways which might be open, blocked or yet to be discovered for movement towards a more equal and just access to leadership for both genders. Women and other women empowerment supporters working to address the growing inequalities between the sexes could provide better and more practical ways for aspiring women leaders to make a difference in the world.

This women’s empowerment conference will encourage multidimensional dialogues, exchanges and collaborations in order to enhance the contributions and applications of new social methodologies for understanding and reducing inequalities between genders. The conference will include keynote lectures by invited speakers providing fresh, integrative insights and challenges for women. It will also include varied opportunities and venues for participants to present their views and engage with other women leaders from around the world.
