‘This is Me’ dementia tool training 7 December
Wed 7 December 2016, 10:00 – 12:00 GMT
Do you want to learn more about the ‘This is Me’ tool?. This is for use with people with dementia who are receiving professional care in any setting - at home, in hospital, in respite care or a care home. It was originally developed for people with dementia who were going into hospital. It is a simple and practical tool that people with dementia can use to tell staff about their needs, preferences, likes, dislikes and interests. It can help to reduce distress for the person with dementia and their carer. It can also help to prevent issues with communication, or more serious conditions such as malnutrition and dehydration.
BCF is pleased to support 2 sessions to be delivered by the Alzheimer’s Society at the Signing Tree Conference Centre , Deaf Cultural Centre, Ladywood Road, Birmingham B16 8SZ between 10.00am and 12.00 on 7th December 2016 and 30th January 2017. These sessions are aimed at health and social care professionals to help them to better recognise the person as an individual and deliver person-centred care that is tailored specifically to the person's needs.
