Stillpoint's weekly discussion on what's relevant today in the world of psychology today. This event is always free to our members.
About this event
Are you more moved by hard facts or personal stories? Which might be more effective at changing your behaviour? A recent study released by the Annenberg School for Communications indicates that first person stories had greater power to motivate pro-social change than facts alone. In this particular study researchers were interested how personal stories may increase relatability to vulnerable groups.
Joining us will be Sarah Elkins, author of Your Stories Don't Define You: How You Tell Them Will. Sarah will be reflecting on her own experiences as a storytelling and communication coach, keynote speaker, and consultant. As always, there will be plenty of time to engage with her and ask questions.
---
Every week on the Stillpoint community we choose a relevant topic to discuss together. It may be a recently released research paper, or a contemporary event or issue that we try to understand better through the lens of psychology. Each week is different and provides an opportunity for our community to come together and discuss our shared passion - psychology in the 21st century.
This discussion is facilitated by psychotherapist Dr. Aaron Balick who will kick off the conversation by summarising the weekly topic to be discussed.
