The Irish singer songwriter's only Leeds gig in 2022.

About this event

In 2017, during his first summer living in England, he embarked on a successful tour of the UK and released a single titled Better Days, which picked up national airplay on the BBC and became a summer radio hit.

Thomas John has performed at legendary venues like Leo’s Tavern in Donegal (owned by the Brennans of Clannad and Enya fame), the Dublin Castle in Camden (which has previously hosted the likes of Madness, Blur and Amy Winehouse) and the young singer songwriter recently played at the Spice of Life in Soho which has held gigs by Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, Jamie Cullum and The Sex Pistols over the years.

In 2016, Thomas John’s debut EP, Easy Tiger was produced by renowned producer Paul Casey (Chris Rea, Paddy Nash, George Hutton) and features Liam Bradley (Van Morrison, Ronan Keating, The Blue Nile) on drums. To coincide with the release, Thomas John undertook his first Irish tour which included a performance at the famous Guildhall Square in Derry.

From 2017 to 2019, Thomas took a break from music while working for chef Jamie Oliver. Unfortunately, in 2019 Oliver’s company went bust and Thomas was made redundant. It wasn’t long until Thomas rekindled his love for music.

In March 2020, Thomas was due to begin a residency at a venue in Leeds and confirmed his first Irish gig in three years as he made his first steps back into live performance but due to the global pandemic outbreak these performances never came to fruition.

In December 2020, the single Free Now was released to coincide with the announcement that Thomas John would perform a weekly live stream on Facebook every week in 2021. These streams were titled The Survival Kit Sessions. Each week, Thomas performs a one hour set consisting of his back catalogue of originals and selected covers. During the live stream a brand new original song is premiered live and these new songs will be used to make up the Survival Kit album.

In November 2021, Thomas recorded a live performance at Seven Arts in Leeds which is due to be released as a live album. Thomas will play just four UK gigs in 2022 before taking a break from live performance to focus on studio projects.
