Event description

Description

British athlete Derek Redmond is best known for his heroic finish at the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona, which saw him hobble to complete the 400 metre sprint after tearing a hamstring. With his father’s arms around him and to a standing ovation, Redmond limped a lap of the track, saying later, ‘I don’t like to give up at anything’. The footage of those heart breaking five minutes is now world-famous. During his career Redmond held the British record for the 400 metres sprint and won gold medals in the 4x400 metres relay at the World Championships, European Championships and Commonwealth Games.

Since retiring from athletics he successfully transitioned between a career in athletics to a second career as a
consultant and adviser in the Thomas business, Derek Redmond knows more than most how important
self-knowledge is for success both on and off the track.

Come along today and find out how Thomas International and Leeds Beckett are working together to support our students.
