It's Thompa's 65th birthday and he has decided to use this monumental occasion as an opportunity to bring the community together to raise money for local charity Sacriston Youth Project. (reg charity no 1168668).

The youth project provides free activities for young people and their families. They offer young people up to 19yrs somewhere safe to meet and take part in activities that will build relationships, develop confidence and foster learning. They also offer information, advice and guidance on a wide range of issue that affect young people.

Their aims are to:

• To encourage young people to use their leisure time doing worthwhile and fun activities, leading to accreditation.

• To ensure that young people regardless of their ability either physical, learning or emotional needs are involved in projects.

• To support and encourage young people to become active members of their local community.

They have many different groups from baby and toddler group to mini’s, juniors and senior youth clubs. They also offer Duke of Edinburgh Award, John Muir Award and The Key projects.
