About the Speaker
DR BECKY PARKER After a physics degree and research at the University of Chicago, Becky taught in a variety of schools and was Senior Lecturer in physics at the University of Kent. She now is Director of the Institute for Research in Schools (IRIS) based in Canterbury. IRIS supports school students and teachers doing authentic, cutting edge research in a wide range of areas including physics, space science, biomedical science, chemistry, marine science, energy, transport and engineering. Becky was awarded an MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours 2008 and earlier this year was awarded the Kavli Education Medal from the Royal Society.
