Welcome to T H O U G H T!

About this Event

We often hear the idea that science has killed God.

“I don’t believe in God because, y’know... science”

Well at Thought we don’t think that’s fair on Science or on God.

We believe that science and faith actually complement one another incredibly well and we will be exploring how the two harmonise and overlap.

Through these events we hope to increase confidence and understanding for those who wonder whether to believe and those looking to push, probe and question our current ideas of God.

We’re getting stuck straight in with our first event and asking “Are all Christians creationists?” and “Is evolution atheistic?” Dr Amy Unsworth (University of Kent) and Dr Denis Alexander (University of Cambridge) will be on hand to expertly guide us through these discussions with mini lectures and Q&A time.

Dr Amy Unsworth earned her PhD in biology from UCL before studying and working in science communication at several prestigious institutions. Her research interests now lie in perceptions of science among religious and non-religious publics in the UK.

Dr Denis Alexander is a highly respected member of the biological research community and has also written several popular science books. He has chaired the Molecular Immunology Programme and headed up the Laboratory of Lymphocyte Signalling and Development at The Babraham Institute, Cambridge. Prior to that he was at the Imperial Cancer Research Laboratories in London (now Cancer Research UK).
