Max elevation: 633m

Total ascent: 1731m

Welcome to Freshwalks and another very special event. We're collaborating with Tink Adventures to deliver a summer charity challenge walk in support of the Peak District National Park Foundation. We share their belief that the Peak District National Park should be enjoyed and protected for everyone forever.

The Three Dark Peaks, from Edale to Marsden takes us on a classic Dark Peak odyssey involving Kinder Scout, Bleaklow and Black Hill inside a single but very long day. For context, this walk is longer and involves more uphill walking (approx 10-15%) than the Yorkshire Three Peaks.

We intend to start the walk from Edale train station at 07:30. You can either drive and meet us there or catch a train from Manchester Piccadilly at 06:39. We'll assist with logistics and car-sharing where necessary given this is a linear walk and the early start and late finish.

You'll also need to self-support (food and drinks) yourself for a long day in the hills and we expect to arrive in Marsden between 19:30 and 21:30, subject to group progress. We intend to move at a decent pace on the challenging terrain of the Dark Peak.

Full information will be sent out a couple of weeks before the walk. Please note that precise timings are subject to change and you will need to be prepared for an early start and late finish.

About the Peak District National Park Foundation

Our vision is a National Park enjoyed and conserved by everyone, forever. It should be a vibrant, colourful, and safe home for the wildlife we all love. The Park’s heritage tells our story and inspires future generations, so let’s celebrate it.

Our right to enjoy the National Park was hard won by ordinary folk. In that spirit, let’s fight to make it ever more accessible, for everyone to enjoy. But it is also unique and very fragile; we must always strive to keep it special. This is what we believe – and why we exist. With your support, we can start to make good things happen.

How can I contact the organiser with any questions?

An event pack will be sent out at least 72 hours before the walk. This should answer most things but feel free to email with any questions you may have. If you've not received the pack by this time, check your email junk or spam and then contact us. Receiving this pack is essential as it includes important disclaimers and health and safety information.

What's the refund policy?

Please take a little look at our refund policy here:

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

No, you're fine as you are. We keep track of the attendees and check you off on arrival. However, if you have a confirmation email saved onto your phone, this may be useful on the rare occasion that there are any issues.

Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?

If you can no longer make it, please be sure to contact us with at least 24 hours notice. We try to be as accommodating as possible and understand that work commitments may pop up. Therefore, if you do need to transfer your ticket to a colleague, please contact us with their full details so we can organise the transfer in good time including the signing of the relevant legal disclaimers.
