Event description
Join us as the next generation of military historians outline their latest research findings in just 180 seconds.

About this Event

Based on the nationally acclaimed '3 Minute Thesis' phenomenon, the British Commission for Military History is proud to unveil its inaugural 'Three Minute Military Thesis' competition. Held at the Institute for Historical Research, in London, on 10th March, this competition will see military historians who are currently writing their ground-breaking doctoral theses summarise their findings in just 180 seconds. These fast paced, dynamic presentations will be judged by a panel of experts, with the winner taking away a cheque for £100, and the prestigious title 'TMMT Champion'.

As part of the BCMH's commitment to supporting the next generation of scholars, the competition, which starts at 17:45 (doors open for the competition at 17:15), will be preceded by two training panels run by accomplished figures in the military world. These experts will be offering advice on career options in military history, and how to get your work published. These panels are open to all who book tickets, and doors will open for the panels from 15:30. A full timetable is below.

It is the BCMH's pleasure to wholly fund this innovative and exciting event, and tickets are therefore free, although we welcome donations from attendees to cover the costs of the tea and coffee served.

This event is organised by the BCMH's Student Liaison Officers Zack White and Dr William Fletcher. For more information, please contact z.white@soton.ac.uk

We hope you will join us for what promises to be a fast paced, exhilarating and extremely informative evening, as our competitors prepare to 'Blitz their Krieg'!
