About this event

  • 8 hours

The Three Sisters of Glencoe are three giant truncated mountain spurs, jutting dramatically out of the Bidean massive and towering high above the pass of Glen Coe. The iconic shape of this mountain range lies at the very heart of the glen and as such is a classic prize for hillwalkers and runners alike.

In recent years, the area has gained worldwide popularity with skyrunners on account of the Salomon Glen Coe Skyline race, which first took place here in 2015. The 52km race route traces the whole skyline and includes (among others) the summits of Stob Coire Sgreamhach, Stob Core nan Lochan and Bidean nam Bian.

There are many possible route options along this side of the glen and our objective is to reach as many of the summits as possible (ideally Stob Coire Sgreamhach, Stob Core nan Lochan, Bidean nam Bian and Stob Coire nam Beith), weather permitting. The route involves sustained rocky amd technical terrain but no graded scrambling. Where possible we will also take in the stunning and justifiably popular Hidden Valley of Glencoe - so it's a BIG day out! Our longest possible route is a maximum of 24km and 2300m, with shorter options available depending on the weather and needs of the group.

Despite being the official race recce provider for Skyline Scotland*, this guided skyrun from Girls on Hills is not associated with the skyrace and is therefore not a race recce per se. Instead our group of runners will enjoy a sociable and relaxed journey around this scenic route, with plenty of walking, plus stopping for photos and lunch along the way (weather permitting!)

There are no prerequisites but you should have some experience of hillwalking/fell running and be capable of comfortably running 10km on trail to get the most out of this guided skyrunning experience.

Upon booking you will receive a full kit list and details of where to meet your Girls on Hills guide.

*Skyline Scotland will not take place during 2024 and will return at a new location for 2025. Feel free to ask your Girls on Hills guide about the race and wider event from Skyline Scotland.

We can't wait to show you this local favourite. It's gonna knock your socks off!
