Event description
FRANK COOPER'S presentation on the Staffordshire Hoard, the largest collection of Anglo-Saxon artefacts yet discovered.

About this event

Frank is Centre Manager for Digital Design & Manufacturing and a Senior Lecturer at Birmingham City University. The Staffordshire Hoard was discovered in 2009. This presentation focuses on a Helmet that has been declared as being ‘fit for a king’, but which was found scattered into well over 1000 disparate fragments. He will describe in detail how traditional artisanal crafts and current digital technologies and techniques now deployed in the jewellery and silversmithing industries were used to create two reproduction helmets.
