Through Ice and Fire: A Russian Arctic Convoy Diary 1942

In 1942, Leonard H Thomas was on PQ18, an Arctic convoy to Russia. Battling attacks from air and sea, bitter cold and near starvation, Thomas kept secret diaries which have now been published. Thomas's daughter Leona tells her father's account, gleaned from his diaries. Including previously unseen images from the convoys, the talk recounts events on this perilous journey, as well as bringing the story full circle when Leona tells of her recent trip to Arkhangelsk.
