We're delighted to welcome Todd Hickerson of Mayco back to Potclays for four full-day mid-high fire workshops, plus a day of demos at our Open Day.

This basic to intermediate workshop is designed to help you get the most out of Mayco Stoneware, Stroke and Coat, Fundamentals underglazes, Jungle Gems, Elements, Snow Gems, Mayco Fluxes, Washes and Engobes.

Are you looking for flexibility in your firing temperatures or creating firing freedom? Todd will help you explore a variety of Mayco products that give great results from cone 06-10, and will cover the best practices of Mayco glazes to achieve new and unique looks. Through this class you should gain the confidence to take your glazes further, experiment more, and make the most out of just a few glazes.

The workshops will take place 10:00am to 4:00pm on Tuesday 30 September, Wednesday 1 October, Thursday 2 October and Friday 3 October.

• Due to high demand for places, we are only able to accept one workshop booking per person.
• The content of the Tuesday workshop is repeated on Thursday, and likewise for the Wednesday and Friday workshop.
• To improve the student experience, we have limited numbers to a maximum of 16, and all materials will be supplied (you can bring a couple of your own stoneware bisque pieces if you wish).
• Attendees should bring an apron and packed lunch with them. Light refreshments will be provided all day.
• Attendees will benefit from Open Day discounts against Mayco products before anyone else.
• Look out for an email in the week prior to the workshop. It will contain important information. If you don't see it, please check your junk folder.
• Photography and filming takes place at all Potclays events. Material may be used publicly on social media and in Potclays marketing activity. If you have any concerns, please speak to a member of staff.

PLEASE NOTE FOR THE FRIDAY WORKSHOP: We close at 4pm on a Friday therefore any orders need to be collected by the afternoon break at the latest. We're unable to process any orders after 3pm.

OPEN DAY DEMOS

If you can't make it to the workshops, you can register for one of three free-of-charge 1hr Mayco product training sessions (demo and Q&A) at our Open Day on Saturday 4 October 2025 from 09:00-15:00. These will take place at 10am, 11.30am, and 1.30pm. Places are limited to 20 at each session, so booking is essential. Free Mayco samples will be handed out to participants, and a full range of Mayco product will be available to purchase at Open Day discounts.

DISABILITY PROVISIONS

We will always make every effort to accommodate those with physical disabilities. Our factory is a very old and rambling building (it was a Victorian teapot factory in a former life) and access to our classroom, WC’s and upper showroom is only made possible through the use of temporary ramps. Please speak to us before booking a course place or visiting us so we can discuss how to best meet your needs.
