Thursday Lates Programme: Delia Darlings
Thursday 14 March 2013
Manchester Art Gallery
Celebrating the life and work of electronic music pioneer Delia Derbyshire (1937-2001), one of the pioneering figures in the development of electronic music in Britain.
Delia Darlings are Manchester based artists working in music and sound who have been paying sonic homage to Delia Derbyshire by spending time with her archives at the University of Manchester.
For this special event we will host an abbreviated version of the Delia Derbyshire Day programme including music performances and discussion with Caro C (experimental electronic site specific live mix for MAG) and Naomi Kashiwagi (live gramophonic glitching) plus a screening of Kara Blake's award-winning documentary The Delian Mode (25mins). Unfortunately Ailís Ní Ríain will not be appearing at this event.
For an introduction to the Delia Darlings music project you can watch the trailer.

Wonder Women : Radical Manchester It’s Manchester, April 1913 and three ordinary Edwardian women turn vigilante, surprising guards at Manchester Art Gallery, smashing glass and causing a commotion in the fight for universal suffrage. 100 years later Wonder Women: Radical Manchester re-examines that shock moment. A milestone on the way to 2018 and the centenary of the first Act of Parliament for women, it is a distinctive Manchester voice questioning the power of women today.
