Info: In these workshops led by Dr Fabian Sanders, we will study some representative examples of various Tibetan literary genres, and then work on these texts together to translate them. Students will receive the texts in advance so they are able to prepare beforehand. During each session, participants will read a sentence from the text in turn & then have the opportunity to explain everything they understand about it. Then we will translate it together very carefully, outlining all the grammatical aspects & literary features involved, in order to arrive at a comprehensive translation.
The three thematic weekends will be based on the following topics and authors:
Biographies (84 Mahasiddhas, Taranatha)
Histories of the Dharma (Buton)
Philosophical tenets (Padmasambhava, Rog Bande Sherab Ö, Longchenpa)
Sadhana Literature (to be confirmed)
Mahamudra and Dzogchen (to be confirmed)
The Five Sciences (Sakya Pandita, Jamgon Kongtrul)
