Event description

Description

Be inspired by Suffolk's fantastic open skies, its wild and wonderful coastal landscape and its quaint little villages in the 'Golden Hour' of photography. Our Tidal Travel Log - outdoor photography workshops are aimed at beginners and intermediates, no matter what make or model your camera is. This includes mobile phones or tablets with camera, and compact cameras. You will be supported with many training and practice opportunities on our relaxed stroll along the tide line, while taking in the coastal scenery, the wildlife and the history of the location.

Our event timings include the best lighting in the afternoon. This will hopefully (depending on the weather) give you the opportunity to get some stunning photos of the landscape, the afternoon sky and the sunset before we finish with last shots in the 'Blue Hour'. Wherever possible we aim to include the moon rise as well.

The group will be guided by professional landscape photographer Jeremy Hennell James and Monika Koch, who specialises in natural and built heritage and the culture of the Suffolk coast. This unique skill combination of the two leaders will help workshop participants to open their eyes and lenses to find often overlooked but fascinating features of the changing coastline.

We will start with a short introduction in the car park over a mug of tea or coffee while explaining some basics of manual camera settings and providing a glimpse in the history of the location. (You are most welcome to bring your own picnic.) Jeremy will make sure you are comfortable with your camera settings before we head off for our relaxed stroll.

We will stay outdoors for the full four hours and explore a section of the coastline by foot, in all weather and cameras always at hand. The route may include walking on shingle, mud, uneven or wet ground. You'll need to have a reasonable level of fitness, and bring sensible outdoor clothing.

FAQs

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

This workshop is suitable for adults and teenagers. If your booking includes under 16 year olds, you accept that they must be accompanied and supervised by a responsible adult at any time. Please select the reduced ticket for 'observer only' if you are an accompanying person and don't want to receive photography guidance.

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

We start at the RSPB car park at Boyton Marshes. There are enough car parking spaces (and no parking or entry fees to the reserve).

I have restricted mobility. Can I participate?

Our route is not fully accessible to wheelchairs or mobility scooters normally, but we might be able to change it to one that is, if you contact Monika@WASuffolk.com before your booking.

How can I contact the organiser with any questions?

You are most welcome to contact the organiser at Monika@WASuffolk.com or via any other contact option on www.wasuffolk.com/contact-us.html

What's the refund policy?

Please be aware that strong winds can force us to cancel this event and that we need a minimum of seven participants to go ahead. Therefore, we reserve the right to cancel up to two days in advance due to wind and weather conditions or a lack of bookings. Under these circumstances, we will contact you in time and fully refund your fees. Please find our full Terms & Conditions on www.wasuffolk.com/terms---conditions.html

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

NO, you don't have to bring a printed ticket. We will email you the ticket for your information only and you will NOT need to print it out for us. Just bring some kind of identification (driving license, ID card, payment card etc) to the event.

Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?

Yes, of course it is ok if you book for someone else. Infact, we are delighted if you decide to give a place on one of our events as a gift to a friend. If possible, please let us know about it via Monika@WASuffolk.com. Monika can email you a pdf file with a printable gift card for a birthday, Christmas or any other celebration if you ask her for it.
