Exhibiting artists in Time is All Around discuss the themes and processes that inspired the work created for the project, and the collaborations undertaken with St. Columba’s Hospice.
Life, death, hope, redemption, tragedy, beauty.
Entitled Time is All Around, our upcoming Members’ Exhibition wrestles with big themes. Many of the artists have been working closely with the staff and patients at St. Columba’s Hospice, a provider of special palliative care for patients with terminal illness. Influenced by the stories of acceptance and reconciliation in the face of mortality, the artists have created a diverse range of prints, each channelling rich inspiration in unique and beguiling fashions.
Through a faith-neutral lens, the exhibition encourages us to look again at our own experiences. The stories from the hospice have the power to re-induce appreciation of the familiar, and have led many of the artists to rediscover the wonder of the everyday. Objects, buildings and people are rethought and presented anew. The exhibition’s prints tread the line between the recognisable and the unseen, standing as things both novel and strangely familiar.
Situated at the forefront of contemporary art printmaking, Time is All Around hits profound topics head-on and finds value in things that might ordinarily be overlooked.
