Statistics show that 1 in 4 people will experience a mental health problem each year. This is everyone’s issue – it will affect you, a friend or family member, or someone you manage or work with. This means this is YOUR problem. And only together can we make a change.
As our most senior leaders in DfT and the Civil Service, we need your support in breaking the stigma around mental health. DfT in particular has taken fantastic steps to open up the conversation around mental health. However our research shows that people in the SCS are less willing to speak out about mental health. We want to support our SCS to be able to feel comfortable to speak about mental health in the workplace, whether this is because they have personal experience of this themselves and are seeking support without discrimination; or whether this is because they are managing or leading teams and need to offer the right type of working environment to ensure we have an inclusive workplace.
