Event description

Description

Swim England has linked up with the NSPCC and is accredited to deliver the ‘Time to Listen’ workshop, aimed at Club Welfare Officers (CWOs) or other designated officer, and is now a SwimMark requirement.

While some CWOs will be trained and experienced in child protection issues, the Time to Listen

programme provides the opportunity to consider the role and responsibilities of CWOs within the

aquatic environment.

This workshop is designed to be interactive, and aims to give underpinning information and support

to CWOs so that they can:

acquire core knowledge and develop essential skills to fulfil their role and responsibilities

adopt a child-focused approach to safeguarding

take action should an incident occur

share good practice and learn from others in the same role

The only pre-requisite is prior attendance at an approved child protection workshop as follows:

Swim England/sportscoachUK Safeguarding and Protecting Children (preferred)

sportscoachUK Safeguarding and Protecting Children

Football Association: Child Protection and Best Practice

Netball: Duty of Care Child Protection Training

Gymnastics: Child Protection Awareness Workshop

Child protection training delivered by Local Safeguarding Children’s Boards (LSCBs) - all

approved Local Authority training is now delivered by their LSCB and there should be the

LSCB logo on the attendance certificate.
