The quality of everything we do depends on the thinking we do first. And we do our finest thinking when someone actively helps us to think, creating an environment that enables us to think fully for ourselves, without direction, interruption or fear. When they listen well they liberate us!
What’s most significant about this is that most of the time we don’t give people the chance to really think for themselves. We interrupt, suggest, get bored waiting, get distracted – anything rather than giving them real attention. It’s just learned behaviour, but it’s not productive for anyone.
