Andrey Gugnin piano

Andrey Gugnin has been involved in music since the age of seven. He studied with Professor Vera Gornostaeva at the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory, graduating in 2010. From 2016 he continues his studies with Stanislav Ioudenitch and William Naboré at the International Piano Academy Lake Como (Italy).

In addition to winning the 1st Prize in the Sydney International Piano Competition in 2016, taking the accolades for best overall concerto, best 19th or 20th century concerto, best violin and piano sonata, and best preliminaries round one recital, Andrey has won Prizes at multiple competitions including the Gold Medal and the Audience Prize at the 2014 Gina Bachauer International Artists Piano Competition (2014), the Valesia Musica International Piano Competition (Italy, 2014); the Beethoven International Piano Competition (Austria, 2013). Svetislav Stancic Piano Competition (Croatia, 2011), “Cittâ di Cantù” (Italy, 2009), International Piano Competition of the Republic of San Marino (piano duo section, 2008).

He has performed in significant halls in more than 20 countries including Russia, Austria, France, Germany, Japan, Thailand, Italy, the United States and Croatia. His performances have included both solo piano concerts and concerto performances with orchestras including the Svetlanov State Orchestra, the Moscow State Orchestra, the Macedonian Philharmonic, the Bangkok Symphony Orchestra, and the Utah Symphony Orchestra.


Timothy Ridout viola

In 2016 Timothy became the first British winner of the Lionel Tertis International Viola Competition. Previous awards include 1st Prize at the 2014 Cecil Aronowitz and 2nd Prize at the 2015 Windsor Festival competitions.

Over the last year Timothy has performed widely in Europe including Wigmore Hall, Munich Gasteig, Verbier Academy & Festival and Schloss Elmau, the Eggenfelden Klassisch, Valdres Sommersymfoni, Koblenz, Musikdorf Ernen and Beethoven Bonn Festivals. He attended, IMS Prussia Cove Open Chamber Music and gave performances with the Nash Ensemble.

Engagements this season include appearances as soloist with the Deutsche Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz, Baden-Baden Philharmonie and Sinfonia Cymru. He returns to Wigmore Hall and performs George Benjamin’s Viola, Viola at the Purcell Room. In 2017 Champs Hill released his first CD of music by Vieuxtemps.

Born in London in 1995, Timothy studied at the Royal Academy of Music graduating with the Queen’s Commendation for Excellence. He was selected by YCAT in 2016 and is currently studying at the Kronberg Academy with Nobuko Imai.

Timothy plays on a viola by Peregerino di Zanetto c.1565-75 generously on a temporary loan from Beares International Violin Society.
