Event description
TISCA's Annual Conference 2020 Audacious Hope ‘Christian hope in an anxious world – practical encouragement for schools today’

About this Event

Date: Tuesday, 16 June 2020 10.30am until 3.45pm

Location: Emmanuel Evangelical Church (EEC) Centre (9-23 Marsham Street, Westminster, London SW1P 3DW)

Our theme for this years's national conference is:

'Audacious Hope:Christian hope in an anxious world – practical encouragement for schools today'.

Alastair Reid, General Secretary of TISCA writes:

'Our annual conference theme is partly inspired by the title of a book by former US President, Barack Obama: 'The Audacity of Hope'. Obama was writing about opportunity and inspiration springing up among many American communities in the early 21st century despite the gloom that pervaded much of US society. The darkness can often be there for many today within British society and our schools. 'Audacious Hope' is a radical, Christian, call to live life to the full despite opposition and obstacles, challenging legislation and attacks on the family and on Christian values. Let's recognise what may confront us and draw strength from Him who overcomes - with audacity!

Our speakers for the event include:

  • Andy Wolfe, Deputy Director of Education at the Church of England
  • Antony Spencer, Principal of Mill Hill
  • Revd Lindsay Collins, Senior Chaplain at King’s School Canterbury
  • Dr Simon Walker, co-founder of STEER
  • Q and A panel chaired by Emma Taylor, Warden at Dean Close School

Our invited speakers will deliver talks on:

  • 'Hope in Him’ Setting the theological context for hope in anxious times (Andy Wolfe)
  • 'Anxious times for Christian Teachers?’ Equipping Christians in schools to face the future with confidence (Anthony Spencer)
  • Anxious times for Chaplaincy Teams?’ Chaplaincy and adolescent mental health (Revd Lindsay Collins)
  • Anxious times for Pupils?’ Equipping pupils to steer the road of adolescence (Dr Simon Walker)
