In her talk, “To Be or Not to Be,” Dr Pugh will explore the psychoanalytic work with adolescents caught in the struggle between life and death — illuminating the inner conflicts, defences, and fragile hopes that shape the adolescent search for being.
Kathryn Pugh is a Training and Supervising Analyst of the British Psychoanalytical Society and Chair of the Fellowship Committee at the Institute of Psychoanalysis. Formerly Consultant Psychiatrist in Psychotherapy at CNWL NHS Trust, she now works in private psychoanalytic practice in London and teaches and supervises widely at the Institute of Psychoanalysis and at 10 Windsor Walk – South London Psychoanalytic Centre.
Alongside her British training, she also trained at the French School of Psychoanalysis (Paris Psychosomatic Institute), which deeply informs her interest in the dialogue between mind and body. Her current work bridges psychoanalysis, psychosomatics, and the understanding of developmental processes from infancy through adolescence.
Coffee will be served from 10am.
