Event description
To See and Know More - Maria Fusco, Joyce Dixon and Naomi Pearce. An evening of talks exploring translation in its widest sense.

About this Event

Channelling proto-feminist mystics, writing in-situ, writing colour and theopoetics this event will create a space for thinking about translation in its widest sense, sending crossing signals between languages, cultures, concepts, registers.

Maria Fusco will discuss her new strand of research into anchorites - proto-feminist mystics - inspired and informed by her time at Sweeney’s Bothy, Isle of Eigg; Joyce Dixon will talk about Abraham Gottlob Werner's 1814 book Nomenclature of Colours.

How is meaning tuned into, read, moved, displaced or reproduced? What new encounters and transformations of meaning take place during the act of translation? What strategies and ways of knowing remain hidden, pending or unknown?

Event in collaboration with Bricks from the Kiln journal and Dr Natalie Ferris & Dr Rebecca Collins, University of Edinburgh.
