Join Allie from Rooted Botanics for an eco-printing workshop, using flowers and leaves to decorate your chosen fabric. Allie will guide you through pre-treating your fabric for long-lasting prints, the flowers and leaves that work best for printing, and transferring your flowers and leaves permanently onto fabric for a textured material.

50% of all ticket and on-demand sales will be donated by TOAST to Crafts Council UK to support their Young Citizens Programme - offering workshops, paid opportunities and creative and professional advice for young people from all backgrounds interested in shaping the future of craft, design and making in the UK.

Materials required:

Natural fiber of your choice to use; this could be a pair of cotton socks, silk scarf or linen top
Thick Dowel for rolling fabric onto
String
Dried, pressed flowers for eco-printing with. Dye flowers to use are marigold flowers & leaves, coreopsis flowers & leaves, cosmos, sagebrush leaves, black walnut leaves, garland daisies, eucalyptus leaves, alder leaves, cannabis leaves, oak leaves, maple leaves (flowers can be bought already pressed on etsy or you can buy the plants at your local garden store and press & dry them in between books)
Pot & lid for steaming in. Ensure this is big enough for both dowel and fabric rolled on it to fit inside with the lid on.

Iron powder
Soda Ash for scouring (optional)

Pot that won't be used again for food to scoure and mordant
Food scale for measuring out materials
Stirring stick

*it is best for students to mordant the day before the workshop so that it is submerged in pot when it comes time for class.
