Join us for a modernist smocking workshop with Annie Coggan from Pratt School of Design in Brooklyn New York.

Annie Coggan has been experimenting with multiple smocking techniques at multiple scales for the last ten years, informing a stitching approach that she refers to as modernist smocking. The class will include Coggan’s insights on the history of this technique as well as a hands-on workshop examining smocking techniques and modernist experiments in the world of three-dimensional embroidery.

Materials required:

1. Needles

2. Thread-an 8oz embroidery thread is ideal.

3. Pre-gridded fabric- 4cm x 4cm is ideal.

4. Scissors

5. Needle threader (if needed)

This workshop is suitable for beginners and 50% of ticket sales will be donated to the Crafts Council UK.
