About this event
During this workshop you will be guided through the embroidery stitch process using a darning needle and colourful wool yarns. Jess will demonstrate how this age-old darning technique can be used to tend to holes and areas of wear in knitted garments and homewares - from chunky jumpers and cardigans to wool blankets.
50% of all ticket and on-demand sales will be donated by TOAST to Crafts Council UK to support their Young Citizens Programme - offering workshops, paid opportunities and creative and professional advice for young people from all backgrounds interested in shaping the future of craft, design and making in the UK.
To view on-demand:
- This event first aired on 1 March 2022.
- Once you have purchased your ticket you will receive an email with a link to access the video recording.
Materials required:
- A piece of knitwear you would like to mend. Recommended to use a chunky knit for the workshop as this is easier to follow the stitches
- Darning wool (in your desired colour or original wool to make a perfect match)
- Darning needle (these are generally longer and thicker than ordinary sewing needles)
- Darning mushroom/tennis ball/round object
- Scissors
