Overview
Toaster Teardown Workshop – Repair & Share Foyle
Curious about how everyday appliances work – or why they sometimes stop working? Join us for our Toaster Teardown Workshop, a hands-on, no-pressure introduction to electrical repair at Repair & Share Foyle.
As part of our mission to reduce waste, save resources, and build practical skills in our community, this workshop gives you the chance to safely explore the inside of a pop-up toaster and see how simple repairs can bring household items back to life. No experience needed – just curiosity!
What to expect
Our workshops are friendly, small-group sessions designed to help you feel comfortable and confident. With guidance from our Repair & Share team, you’ll:
- Learn the basics of electrical safety
- Open up and reassemble a pop-up toaster
- Discover how its internal mechanisms work
- Try out simple diagnostic and repair techniques
- Pick up tips to help extend the life of your home appliances
You’ll leave with new skills, a better understanding of how things are put together, and a sense of how repair can help keep useful items in circulation and out of landfill.
This workshop is based on the Fixing Factory's Fixperience workshops; see fixingfactory.org for more details.
