Together Space - UNSTUCK: The Stories That Hold Us Back

A Together Space with Token Man Consulting and The Midlife Man

Some stories lift us. Others keep us exactly where we are, even when part of us is ready to move.

In the new year, we’re inviting you into a Together Space co-hosted by Daniele Fiandaca, founder of Token Man Consulting, and Caroline Whitmey, founder of The Midlife Man, to explore the stories that shape us… and the ones we’re finally ready to rewrite.

Because feeling stuck isn’t a weakness. More often it’s a sign that the story we’ve been living no longer matches the person we’re becoming. And getting unstuck rarely happens in isolation. It happens in community, in conversation and in the safety of being seen.

What this Together Space is about

Together Spaces bring people together for meaningful, challenging and deeply human conversations in a respectful, non-harmful environment. They’re for anyone, however they identify, who wants to understand themselves more honestly and others more compassionately.

This session focuses on the stories we carry quietly. Stories about who we’re supposed to be at work, at home, in relationships and in midlife. Stories that once helped us survive but now hold us back.
Here, we’ll make space to notice those stories, question them and begin loosening the ones that no longer serve us.

What we’ll explore together

Rather than fixed workshops, we’ll offer three gentle pathways to help you find the territory you most want to explore. You’re welcome to stay with one, move between them or ignore them altogether. They’re simply prompts to guide your reflection through the Token Man framework of:

1. Identifying an issue you want to resolve
2. Recognising the barriers that keep it in place
3. Committing to small actions that can create a better future

Work identity and inclusion
For anyone feeling boxed in by labels or misunderstood in the roles they occupy. Perhaps “middle-aged, white, male” has become a story you never asked for. Perhaps your job title has become your whole identity. This pathway helps surface the tension and explore new ways of showing up.

Personal identity and fertility
A compassionate space for the quieter, more intimate stories around fertility, family and the expectations that sit beneath them. For many, these stories shape confidence, belonging and purpose in ways rarely spoken aloud.

Emotional identity and purpose
For those sensing an internal shift. Feeling jammed, unsure what’s next or struggling to act on what you already know. This pathway invites you to examine the beliefs that keep you small and the possibilities that emerge when you loosen them.

These strands are invitations, not boundaries. Wherever you choose to go, the central question remains:
What story are you carrying, what’s holding it in place and what’s the smallest action that could help you rewrite it?

Why this matters

So many of the divisions we see in workplaces and communities come from people living inside stories they never chose. When we create space to examine those stories together, something shifts.
Empathy deepens. Defensiveness softens. Possibility opens.

Getting unstuck starts with honesty. Staying unstuck happens in community.

The rules of the room will be as follows:

• Chatham House rules - you can share stories but they can’t be attributed to a single person (simply because stories are how we shape change)
• Share the air ie allow enough time for others to speak too
• Respect each other
• Be kind
• Be Present
• Work with people, not against people

Also note we will not let people into the session after 5 minutes to ensure minimal disruption.
