What’s a Poetry Slam, Anyway?

A poetry slam is a high-energy, crowd-powered celebration of words, rhythm, and raw emotion. Poets take to the stage to share original pieces—funny, fierce, or heartfelt—and the audience gets to cheer, snap, and even help judge! Whether you're performing or just soaking it all in, a slam is all about connection, creativity, and community. Come experience poetry like you’ve never heard it before!

For Slammers (Performers):

Buy a Performer Ticket before they're gone (if they're sold out and you want to perform, you can buy an audience ticket and sign up to the slam reserve list on the night incase a poet gets lost along the way!). Bring 1 piece of original work up to 3 minutes long (no props and no music). All styles and themes are encouraged and you are welcome to read from paper or a phone. One winner will be crowned on the night to go forward into the SLAM FINAL (May 2026), where they will battle it out for a cash prize and future performance opportunities.

For Audience: Buy an audience ticket to come along and support our wonderful poets on the night, you might even get a chance to be on the slam judge panel!
