Tool Maintenance course for volunteers

Tool Maintenance course for volunteers

By The Berks, Bucks and Oxon Wildlife Trust

Overview

Join us to learn the basics of maintaining your hand tools

Join Nicole Clough for an introduction to tool maintenance. Bring along a couple of your hand tools to work on, for example axes, billhooks, slashers, secateurs, loppers, shears, mattocks and spades. If you are bringing saws which need replacement blades please also bring the new blades ready to fit. If you already own any sharpening stones or files, please bring them along. We will also have some available for you to borrow.

The course will cover cleaning, sharpening, replacing/resetting saw blades, oiling, replacing axe handles and complete blade re-profiles. (We will discuss maintaining scythes but will not have time to work on them)

Extend the life of your tools and get them working efficiently during that lifespan.
