Healthy workplace relationships are essential to the success of any organisation. This workshop is designed to inform HR professionals about a variety of ways to resolve disputes, quickly and effectively. Each circumstance is unique and the specialist mediation team will discuss the different approaches to addressing conflict, including:

  • Informal interventions
  • Facilitated discussions
  • Principles of mediation
  • Benefits of early mediation
  • Policies and procedures

Often, coaching can be a way of resolving workplace issues and Allegra Stone, Mediator and Coach, will explain when this is a suitable alternative or support to the workplace mediation process. In addition, earlier in 2018, CIPD Gloucestershire members were surveyed about their views of workplace mediation. In this informative workshop, Allegra will explain the results of the survey to understand how members currently approach workplace issues.

Annie Franklin, an independent mediator, will explain how employment mediations differ from workplace mediations. She will discuss the grievance and disciplinary procedures and discuss how they can relate to employment mediations. She will explain how mediation can be a cheaper, more effective alternative to a potential employment tribunal.

Simon Collingridge, an experienced independent Employment Lawyer, will explain how the law relates to employment mediations and will provide expert advice about the process of terminating staff contracts.
