About this event

Accreditation Mentors provide independent professional advice to museums who do not employ a museum professional, supporting them to achieve and maintain the Accreditation Standard. Mentors support museums at all stages of the Accreditation process.

Following the recent publication of Arts Council England (ACE)’s new suite of guidance documents for Accreditation Mentors and the museums they support, this workshop will provide tips and advice for mentors across the Accreditation application and returns cycle. It is targeted at existing mentors and anyone considering becoming a mentor.

The workshop will explore key milestones in a mentoring relationship with top tips on how to best support your mentored museum, including:

· Starting up with a new museum, including documentation and managing expectations

· Supporting a museum with their first Accreditation application

· Advice and support during the Accreditation assessment, including site visits

· Post-Accreditation award and returns cycle support

· Managing significant change and Provisional Accredited Status

· Moving on or ending the mentoring relationship

· Signposting to further resources

The event will be delivered via Zoom using a range of exercises and interactive features including Chat and Breakout Rooms, and will include a short break. Participants are encouraged to ask questions and actively participate in discussion. If you have any concerns about accessibility or usability for these features please contact enquiries@mdmidlands.org.uk
