This is an all-day free event and all delegates will be presented with a certificate of attendance. The final program will follow shortly.

About this Event

Are you a nurse, midwife, allied health professional, social worker or care worker?

Would you like to develop your career in a new direction?

Are you interested in learning from others to improve patient, client, family and professional experiences of care?

Do you have an idea, innovation, development, or research project in practice to disseminate and share?

Celebrating innovation and integration in health and social care: moving forward with nurses, midwives, allied health professionals and social workers.

This is an all-day free event and all delegates will be presented with a certificate of attendance.

Professor Mark Radford - Deputy Chief Nursing Officer for Delivery & Innovation - will be here for the day to inspire, challenge and learn with us. The conference will showcase cross-boundary and cross-discipline research and quality improvement activity, particularly focusing on staff well-being and integrating health and social care.

The final programme will be available very soon and includes plenary presentations showcasing research embedded in practice, clinical academic careers, a poster exhibition, concurrent sessions, and workshops. There will be prizes for the best poster and best presentation.

To display your work as a poster at the conference or to deliver a short presentation please send us an abstract (details below).

Mary Hickson, Susie Pearce, Chris Dixon and Rich Collins (your Clinical School contacts) will be available to help with ideas, help shape your abstract and help with poster or presentation development - please do contact them.

Abstract submission details:

Abstracts should be up to 300 words in length (excluding title, authors and their affiliations, and references) and should be structured as follows: Abstracts can be on an area of practice innovation, research or quality improvement.

You should include:

  • Title of presentation - a title which accurately describes the study
  • Authors - the names of all authors, job titles and place of work
  • Background/aims - a brief explanation of how the study developed from existing knowledge and literature (the problem being addressed)
  • Methods or what did you do or what are you going to do - a concise description of the methods used to conduct the study (what you have done)
  • Findings - where possible, please include key findings of the research. For studies in progress with results to follow, please indicate this, explaining your plans for data analysis. For service innovations, please provide a description of innovation/impact
  • Discussion/Conclusions - this is an opportunity to explain why the findings or impact are of interest and importance, and implications they may have for practice or teaching.
  • The email address and contact telephone number of the lead author/ presenter
  • Whether you would like to present as poster or an oral concurrent session.

10.15-11.00 - Integration in health and social care; innovations and challenges – Speaker TBC

11.00-11.30 - Refreshments and poster viewing

11.30-12.30 - Innovations from Clinical Practice – three speakers TBC

12.30-13.15 - Lunch, stands and poster viewing

13.15-13.30 - Introduction from Jane Viner, Chief Nurse and Deputy Chief Executive

13.30-14.15 - Panel discussion: Practicalities of enabling staff to innovate, develop and research

14.15-15.15 - Parallel Sessions: you can choose two from the following three options:

1) Developing your career – A panel discussion about how staff can develop their careers, thinking about what the options are and how to work towards you goal

2) Thinking critically about your practice (TBC).

3) Oral presentations from staff submitting abstracts

15.15-15.30 - Refreshments and poster viewing

15.30-16.30 - The three parallel sessions above will be repeated

16.30-16.45 - Prizes (best poster and best oral presentation from abstract submissions) and close.
