    What is Connect 5 training?


    What does mental health training involve?

    Connect 5 is a training course that gives participants the skills and confidence to have enabling conversations with people in their work and lives. Informed by contemporary evidence, these conversations empower individuals to take action that improves mental health and wellbeing.

    Connect 5 training builds the capacity and capability of the participants to look after their own and others’ mental wellbeing proactively.

    The course is undertaken in three separate modules. Each module is 3 hours long . The programme underpins the principle of ‘Making Every Contact Count’ and supports the best use of an individuals skills and local contacts.


    This training is suitable for frontline staff, volunteers or community support wokers who would like to better support their patients /clients/members of the public to live well mentally, to better mange their mental health, increase their resilience and ultimately improve their wellbeing.


    This session will be module 2 of 3, with modules 1 and 3 taking part on the dates below:

    Module 1 - Monday, 3rd March 2025

    Module 3 - Monday, 17th March 2025


    Module 2

    Builds on module 1 so that learners understand wellbeing needs and are able to offer one off brief wellbeing interventions to others.

    This module includes information on suicide awareness. Learning in this module will enable you to:

    • Apply recognised models, such as the ‘Five Areas Model’ to a wellbeing conversation and practice the ‘3Cs’ of Connected Conversations, learnt in Module 1;
    • Assess the nature and extent of the mental wellbeing issue being presented to ensure people get the right help at the right time, including suicide awareness;
    • Identify steps that can be taken to improve mental wellbeing.

    In addition, our training in ‘Making Every Contact Count’ and ‘Connect Five’ provides valuable tools and techniques to help you facilitate behaviour change conversations and support mental health and well-being.
