TORFAEN Climate Resilient Communities Workshop
Overview
This event is part of the Climate Change Risk Assessment (CCRA) taking place across Gwent on behalf of Gwent PSB.
The Gwent Climate Change Risk Assessment is a region-wide initiative to help public services, communities, and decision-makers understand and respond to the growing risks of a changing climate in Gwent. Through expert analysis, inclusive engagement, and leadership development, the project will deliver practical insights and tools by March 2026 to support climate adaptation across Gwent. This is a unique opportunity for stakeholders to shape the future resilience of their communities and local services — by contributing their knowledge and sharing their experiences to enrich the risk assessment.
Climate Resilient Communities Workshops
These are five, face to face workshops1 in each of the counties of Gwent - Blaenau Gwent, Caerphilly, Monmouthshire, Newport and Torfaen.
By this time information will have been gathered to inform the Risk Assessment and these workshops provide the opportunity for local communities to ‘sense-check’ the emergent findings. The attendees would include those with in increasing interest in the process, but also locally influential individuals with less direct interest in the risks from a changing climate, but a willingness to build relationships and leave an event better informed.
Aim: To sense check emerging findings of the Climate Change Risk Assessment, gather evidence of people’s perceptions of cumulative and combined risks and understand their priorities for climate adaptation.

The public sector:
