The Touchstone Leadership Masterclass offers an opportunity for our staff and other charity/public sector colleagues to hear an inspirational person talk about their leadership journey, any barriers or problems they have faced and any tips for a successful life they might want to share. In the past we have had: Iby Knill, a Holocaust survivor; Tom Riordan, Leeds City Council’s Chief Executive; Ruth Hunt, Stonewall CEO; and some of our staff who have been former service users.
Touchstone's 5th Leadership Masterclass of the year welcomes Jon Royle.
Jon has worked in the substance misuse sector for 25 years as a volunteer, researcher, therapist and manager.
Before joining Bridge he worked for Addiction Dependency Solutions, a regional substance misuse charity as an Area Director.
Jon became Chief Executive of Bridge in May 2007 and is responsible to the Board of Trustees for the management and administration of Bridge within the strategic framework and policy objectives set by the Board. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute, holds an MBA and a Diploma in Counselling.
He is Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the UK Faces and Voices of Recovery Charity (Home of the UK Recovery Walk) and has contributed to national policy development through membership of various groups, including the PHE National Mutual Aid Reference Group and the Department of Health Expert Group on Addictions to Medicines.
In the 80’s Jon was himself addicted to heroin and for most of that decade his life revolved around drugs and crime in the notorious crescents and streets of Moss Side and Hulme in Manchester.
Jon’s journey to becoming a leader of successful organisations involved first mastering himself and the lessons he learned through his own recovery are what guides his approach to leadership today. Principle amongst these is his belief in the potential of people to change and be the best they can be, given the right opportunities and environment.
Come and listen to Jon share his journey and his reflections on leadership and transformational change.
