Event description

Description

Curator Dr. Josh Nall takes you on a tour through our newly opened exhibition, which celebrates the anniversary of Robert Whipple's founding donation to the University of Cambridge - made 75 years ago.

"I little thought when I bought an old telescope, for the sum of 10 francs from an antique shop in Tours in 1913, that I was embarking on the slippery slope of collecting." Robert Whipple said, upon donating over 2000 books and instruments to the university. Join us as we investigate his significant collection throughout our new exhibition, from astrolabes, to telescopes, to railway glasses.

Part of the Cambridge Festival of Ideas. Check out the programme: https://www.festivalofideas.cam.ac.uk/events
