Event description

Description

Discover stories of Second World War in this tour of the Imperial War Museum's WW2 galleries.

Hear about the Battle of Britain and Dunkirk, and how London coped in the Blitz. We'll discuss the destruction of German cities by Bomber Command and the USAAF, the Battle of the Atlantic and the cracking of Enigma by Bletchley Park, Montgomery and Rommel's battles in the desert and in Normandy, the planning for D-Day and the landing on the beaches, the Nazi invasion of the Soviet Union and the war in the Far East.

The IWM has some wonderful artefacts - a Spitfire, V1 and V2s, a Lancaster bomber, a German Enigma machine, "Monty's Humber", Sherman and T-34 tanks - which we'll see and explain.

If you're interested in the history of WW2, you will find this a fascinating tour - informative, interesting and revealing.
