Event description

Description

The event is aimed at disabled/para-cyclists, anyone referred to the Livewell scheme and riders who do not have the capacity to ride on the road. We recognise that there will be riders on the track with very different abilities and this is a team endurance event and NOT a race.

The event is an inclusive team event, whereby everyone riding contributes to a cumulative distance. Riders set off at allocated times and ride as far as they can in their allotted slot. The distance is added to that of the other riders and in total, the riders, as a team, will aim to ride the Tour de Manc sportive “Full Manc” distance of 100 miles / 160km. The ride will be held on a marshalled, closed cycle track. The riding will be supported by accompanying events. Medals will be given to the riding team members.

At the start of the event, riders will be matched with the right bike for them. There will be all kinds of adapted bikes available and instructors will ensure the riders are famiiarised with their bikes and are safe to ride. Riding will be on a closed circuit with helpers, marshalls and trained staff ensuring safety.

further details, including FAQs are included on the Tour de Manc website : www.tourdemanc.co.uk

This event is being organised in conjunction with Tameside MBC, Active Tameside (a not for profit registered charity trading as Tameside Sports Trust) and Cycling Project's Wheels for all initiative (Cycling Projects is a national charity which promotes cycling through community engagement programmes).
