Event description

Description

The Carpenters' Company started as a medieval trade guild over 700 years ago, receiving its first Royal Charter in 1477. Its role was of a building trade regulator in the City of London although this diminished somewhat after the Great Fire when new regulations greatly reduced the use of wood in buildings. The Company is 26 in order of precedence.

The Carpenters’ Company has been based on London Wall since its first Hall was built there in 1429. Since that time, there have been three Halls. The current building was opened in 1960, its predecessor having been destroyed in the Blitz.

Our tour - led by the Company's Archivist, will be of the function/ceremonial rooms covering the history of the Hall and Company.

Coffee and biscuits included!
