Tourism 2017 – Celebrating Stirling
We’re inviting the region’s tourism businesses to join us for STEP’s Tourism conference and prepare for the year ahead.
Join us as VisitScotland launches its Year of History, Heritage and Archaeology in Stirling. A representative from Scotland’s national tourism agency will explain why they have decided to celebrate heritage sites and ancient monuments in 2017. From cultural traditions and local myths, stories and legends – 2017’s Year of History, Heritage and Archaeology promises to be a very exciting one, given what Stirling has to offer across all three of these themes.
The Scottish Tourism Alliance will provide an update on Tourism Scotland 2020 – the action-plan aimed at growing the country’s visitor spending by £1bn to 2020. With less than three years to go, you will hear results from the mid-term review and discover what priorities have been put in place to reach the target.
We will also announce results of 2016’s Stirling Visitor Survey at the conference. This vital information about the region’s visitors will be used to plan ahead for the future.
A representative from one of our most iconic historic landmarks, The Wallace Monument, will share their journey - from past to present. They are looking forward to demonstrating how new digital technologies are helping to bring the past to the present, and how they are attracting new customers.
By embracing new technologies it is becoming easier for businesses to compete in a competitive global market. You will also hear from industry experts who will offer advice on how to get your business recognised by Google, how to use video to promote your business, and how Facebook is transforming the way tourism businesses work, and interact with their customers.
Experts will be on hand throughout the day to provide digital support and advice.
