Join Carnival Network South for a lively and topical conference looking at how we, as carnival artists, producers and parade managers, can plan for and implement real change in our practice for a more sustainable and environmentally friendly carnival culture.

The event spans two days and will provide a stimulating mix of keynote and panel presentations infused with inspirational workshop activities. There will be lots of valuable time for chat, creating new friends and partners - plus an (optional) Friday Night social evening programme supported by Tropical Sun.

Panel Contributors already confirmed include: Julie’s Bicycle, Shambala Festival, Walk the Plank with Manchester Day Parade, Arts Council England, Bristol City Council and St Pauls Carnival, Norwich City Council, Edinburgh Carnival.

Workshops and demos will include: sustainable sound systems from Nautilus, Twinwave (for percussion using recyled instruments) and Alexander D Great (for steel pans from Biscuit tins) with alternative carnival crafts from New Carnival Company, 18 Hours, and Route Canal Arts.

Seize the chance to be part of this stimulating and thought provoking event. Together we can change the way we use, share, save, recycle and plan for carnival. The conference aims to produce a blueprint for a Manifesto for Change and an action plan for putting real ideas ‘live’.

The event is for all carnival and outdoor arts practitioners and organisers, other industry professionals, as well to individuals and members of the community who share our passion ‘towards a greener carnival’.

Tickets £25 per day or £40 for both

• Tropical Sun social event at (venue tbc), St Pauls, Friday from 7.30pm
